An Ancient Inscription at Maresha
* Maresha - An ancient town excavated on the eastern foothills of the Hebron mountains

(Without any punctuation marks)
On the entrance door-frame
Of the burial cave
In the ancient town Maresha :
“There is nothing left
For me to do for thee
Or anything to delight thee
As I lie with someone else
But only thee I love
As thou art dearer to me than all else
And in the name of Aphrodite I am happy
That your cloak is laid out for me as a pledge
I am running away
And leave thee spaces of freedom
Do anything thou desireth
But do not pound on this wall
As thou wilt only raise a noise
We shalt signal each other
And this shalt be between us
A token of love“
